Restore Scripts

A tool that generates bare metal restore scripts for dirvish-created backup directories would be handy. When you need to do a bare metal restore script, you are already facing an impossible timeline.

For an example of my server restore script, see http://www.keithl.com/dirvishfiles/recover.sda

You don't really need a restore script: systemimager (http://systemimager.org) already does bare-metal installs from rsync servers. Just use that instead.

I looked at systemimager. This looks like a good tool for rebuilding a networked client from a backup. However, it does not appear to be suitable for recovering the server main drive itself, which is what the admittedly limited script above is for.

Also, the manual did not have a description of the image format for systemimager, so I don't know how to map a fragmented-into-multiple-vaults dirvish image into a suitable image for systemimager. Especially if, for security recovery reasons, you are restoring parts of two different backups.

Third, a process that restores Windoze or Mac is needed as well.

Can anyone address these issues? Systemimager looks like a good restore framework if we can adapt to it.
