Future Updates
Revision Numbering
Let's do a major-minor style revision numbering system, like Linux. At this writing (25 Sept 2004) Dirvish is at version 1.2, the same since 1 March 2004. Let's make the odd numbered versions represent experimental, use-at-your-own-risk versions, and then roll them over to even versions when they have been proven for a while (We will need some tools for that!).
The Next Step
So let's start commenting on the proposed fixes so far:
BadShellCommandCWD , RsyncError24 , SpacesInSource , ChmodOnExpire .
Then let's make a release 1.3.1 (and then 1.3.2, etc.) and test it out. After I hear from a few of you folks that it works for Linux, Windows, and hopefully at least one non-Linux Unix (Solaris, BSD?) then we can turn a 1.4 version. "Works" means:
verified that all the files were backed up with correct dates and permissions
verified that we can make a functional bare-metal restore from an image
- add more here
Also, we have a suggestion to make systemimager the suggested bare-metal restore tool. I haven't tried that yet, but I will soon. Any other comments?
